Materials and Product Care

MATERIALS
Berg & Blume Jewellery works solely in precious metals, and our jewellery are available in both 925 sterling silver or 18 carat (ct) gold-plated 925 sterling silver. All silver jewellery is nickel free, and all items are treated with an anti tarnish layer, to help keep the silver from oxidising.
All pieces are made one by one. Larger parts are re-produced based on our prototypes and afterwards we in handcraft carry out the surface treatments, soldering and polishing, before we assemble all parts. No mechanised systems are used as these are not adequate for the complexity and finish required.
As all pieces are handmade, no pieces are 100% identical.
All pieces are engraved "BRG 925", where BRG refers to the company name registered at the "Danish Precious Metal Control" and 925 refers to the fact that the material is sterling (925) silver. The quality of the materials are routinely checked by the "Danish Precious Metal Control".

PRODUCT CARE
Jewellery needs maintenance and we recommend that you follow the following tips and wear your jewellery with care.
-
In general avoid direct contact with water. Do not wear your jewellery when going for a dip in the swimming pool, jacuzzi, sauna/steam room or while bathing or showering.
-
Avoid direct contact with products like soap, hand sanitizer, perfume, oils and moisturiser.
-
Make-up, perfume and hairspray all contain chemicals, which may dull the finish of your jewelry. So add your jewelry as the final touch to your look.
-
Please know that chlorine, chemical products, abrasive products and detergents will all cause tarnishing and damage to your jewellery - so be smart before cleaning.
-
To be thorough gently wipe your jewellery clean with a soft cotton cloth after each wear to remove make up and oils (from skin).
- Oxidation is a natural process for silver and will occur with your jewellery at some point. Oxidation will give your jewellery a darker tone. As oxidation is a natural process and can easily be removed, it is therefore not considered a complaint.
- To avoid oxidation please obtain your valued items in a sealed plastic bag, and ensure keeping your jewellery in a dry place (not the bathroom or other humid places).
-
Goldplating is unfortunately not ever lasting - and also very individual - so please take care of your pieces. If your gold plated piece at some point needs a replating, we can easily help you for a small fee.
-
We’ll recommend silver clean from Hagerty, followed by rinsing your jewellery in water and gently drying with a soft cotton cloth to remove oxidation very easily.
-
If your jewellery starts to oxidize within the first 14 days after you receive them, please contact our customer support.
